Docklight is a test, analysis and simulation tool for serial communication protocols (RS232, RS485/422 and others).
* Simulating serial protocols - Docklight can send out user-defined sequences according to the protocol used and it can react to incoming sequences. This makes it possible to simulate the behavior of a serial communication device, which is particularly useful for generating test conditions that are hard to reproduce with the original device (e.g. problem conditions).
* Logging RS232 data - All serial communication data can be logged using two different file formats: use plain text format for fast logging and storing huge amounts of data. Or create a HTML file with styled text that lets you easily distinguish between incoming and outgoing data or additional information.
* Detecting specific data sequences - In many test cases you will need to check for a specific sequence within the RS232 data that indicates a problem condition. Docklight manages a list of such data sequences for you and is able to perform user-defined actions after detecting a sequence, e.g. taking a snapshot of all communication data before and after the error message was received.
* Responding to incoming data - Docklight lets you specify user-defined answers to the different communication sequences received. This allows you to build a basic simulator for your serial device within a few minutes. It can also help you to trace a certain error by sending out a diagnostics command after receiving the error message.
Docklight will work with the COM communication ports provided by your operating system. Physically, these ports will be RS232 SUB D9 interfaces in many cases. However, it is also possible to use Docklight for other communication standards such as RS485 and RS422, which have a different electrical design to RS232 but follow the RS232 communication mechanism. Docklight has also been successfully tested with various USB-to-RS232 converters.

* Simulation de protocoles séries - Docklight peut être utilisé pour émettre des séquences prédéfinies en fonction du protocole de communication utilisé afin d\\\'observer la réaction de l\\\'appareil connecté. Docklight peut aussi réagir automatiquement sur des séquences entrantes; ceci permettra entre autre de simuler le comportement d\\\'une communication série d\\\'un appareil
afin de tester par exemple un logiciel connecté.
* Enregistrement des données transitant via une liaison RS232 - Les données d\\\'une communication série peuvent être espionnées et enregistrées dans deux format de fichiers différents : un format texte dont l\\\'enregistrement sur le disque sera très rapide et qui permettra la traçabilité d\\\'un flot de données importants, un format HTML dont les couleurs permettront de reconnaître simplement le sens de transit des données ainsi que les différentes informations éventuellement ajoutées par Docklight.
* Détection de séquences de données spécifiques - Dans certains cas d\\\'utilisation vous pouvez être amenés à devoir détecter des séquences spécifiques transitant via la liaison série. Docklight permet la définition d\\\'une liste de séquences et vous permet d\\\'effectuer une liste d\\\'actions lorsqu\\\'une telle séquence est détectée.
* Réponses automatiques à des données entrantes - Docklight vous permet de spécifier des réponses à différentes séquences entrantes. Ceci vous permet de créer une simulation basique de la partie communication d\\\'un appareil.

* Simulation serieller Protokolle - Mit Docklight können frei definierbare Sequenzen eines Kommunikationsprotokolls gesendet werden. Docklight kann auf eine empfangene Sequenz reagieren und eine benutzerdefinierte Reaktion aussenden. Dieses Zusammenspiel ermöglicht die Simulation eines seriellen Geräts bzw. dessen Verhalten. Insbesondere können so Testbedingungen simuliert werden, die mit dem Originalgerät nur schwer zu reproduzieren sind (z.B. Fehlfunktionen).
* Protokollieren von RS232-Daten - Alle seriellen Kommunikationsdaten können protokolliert werden. Hierzu stehen zwei Dateiformate zur Verfügung: Verwenden Sie das Standard-Textformat (.txt-Datei), um hohe Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeiten zu erreichen und große Datenmengen zu speichern. Oder erzeugen Sie ein HTML-formatiertes Protokoll, damit Sie leicht zwischen empfangenen / gesendeten Daten und Zusatzinformationen unterscheiden können.
* Aufspüren spezieller Sequenzen - In vielen Test-Szenarios sollen besondere Sequenzen innerhalb des RS232-Datenstroms erkannt werden, welche auf ein Problem hinweisen. Docklight erlaubt Ihnen, eine Liste solcher Datensequenzen zu verwalten, und eine Aktion festzulegen, die von Docklight nach dem Empfang einer Sequenz ausgeführt werden soll. Sie können zum Beispiel einen Schnappschuss der RS232-Kommunikationsdaten vor und nach dem Empfang eines Fehlercodes aufnehmen.
* Auf empfangene Daten antworten - Mit Docklight können benutzerdefinierte Antworten auf die unterschiedlichen Empfangssequenzen definiert werden. So können Sie in wenigen Minuten einen einfachen Simulator für ein serielles Gerät zusammenstellen. Oder Sie können nach dem Empfang eines Fehlercodes ein spezielles Diagnosekommando an Ihr serielles Gerät schicken, um die Fehlerursache zu finden.
